Maryland's largest and most important city is Baltimore, which is the most important transportation center of the whole state and whole US. Maryland's industries vary, of course its close location to Washington D.C. provides a lot of jobs in goverment and goverment-related services. Most of state's population is gathered around Baltimore and Washington areas.
